The regal & elegant Russian is a breed renowned for their healthy constitution, ease of maintenance and love for human companionship.
The plush double coat, carrying a silver tipping to each guard hair, gives the coat a lustrous sheen. The large vertical ears, stunning green almond-shaped eyes and a slender muscular body give the Russian a majestic and stately air.
The gentleness of the Russian nature allows them to be a perfect companion for those of all ages they are happy to share their affections amongst all family members.
My belief that the steady improvement of the Russian Blues in W.A is the result of an enthusiastic and dedicated group of breeders that works together for the benefit of the breed.
At Kimara we are exceptionally proud of our Russian Blues. Apart from the beauty and superb temperaments of our cats and kittens, their achievements on the show bench have been outstanding not only within Western Australia but also Darwin, Brisbane & Sydney.
Locally, we have been awarded Supreme Exhibit at the Perth Royal Show in 2006 with Kimara Royal Carmel, a desexed Russian Female.
Most recently, the Perth Royal Show 2007 provided a comprehensive showcase with a large number of breeds being judged over a number of days. The show attracted 181 entries in total, with 21 Russian Blues being judged by both international and Australian judges. Roughly half of this number were adult females and the remainder comprised adult males and male and female kittens. We therefore feel very proud of our female kitten Kimara Sil Va Leerah, who took out Best Exhibit in Show, leading to the title of Supreme Exhibit - Perth Show 2007.
